Infant Feeding + Development Screening

$50.00

Hi there!

Thank you for entrusting us to complete an infant development screening for your precious little one!

What is an infant development screening?

  • It is a play-based interaction to see how your baby is growing, moving, and interacting with their world. It helps determine whether development appears on track or if additional support may be helpful. This is not a diagnosis and there is no pass or fail.

What are the benefits of an infant development screening?

  • To provide information about your baby's current development

  • To identify any concerns a caregiver / parent has about their child's development

  • To celebrate your child's current development

  • To provide information to support your baby's development

Which areas of development may be looked at? (dependent on parent concerns or interest)

  • Gross motor skills (e.g. crawling, rolling. etc.)

  • Head shape / Body symmetry (e.g. is your child's body and head symmetrical on left/right side)

  • Fine motor skills (e.g. finger grasp, finger pointing, etc)

  • Visual motor skills (e.g. shaking a rattle, putting objects in and of containers, etc.)

  • Sensory processing (e.g. sensitivity to sounds, touch, movement, etc.)

  • Oral Motor skills (e.g. ability to coordinate their mouth, lips, tongue, jaw, etc.)

  • Social-Emotional engagement (e.g. peek-a-boo, back and forth interactions, smiling, etc.)

  • Play & Interaction (e.g. interest in exploring their environment, toys, etc.)

WHO will complete my child's infant development screening

  • Javier Jimenez MS, OTR/L, CIMI, a licensed occupational therapist and certified infant massage instructor

What happens before my child's infant development screening?

  • At the end of this registration form, parent will complete a developmental questionnaire called the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3), a screening tool that helps check how your baby is growing and developing. Parents / caregivers can fill out this short questionnaire about their child’s skills in areas like: communication, gross motor (like crawling), fine motor (small movements like picking things up), problem-solving, and personal-social skills (how they play and interact). It’s relatively quick to complete (usually 8-10 minutes). Parents are asked to choose the correct questionnaire based on their baby's age , answer the questions to the best of their ability, and provide completed form on a printed form OR via email to info@pathtogrowpediatrictherapy.com

What happens after the infant development screening?

  • Parents / caregivers will be informed of the results of the screening via printed form or PDF document that will be sent via email. Parents / caregiver will be involved in decisions regarding further testing if indicated. If the screening indicates that your child does not need additional testing, then you will require no further action. If the screening indicates a recommended in-depth occupational therapy evaluation or other professional, it will be indicated in the written results of the infant development screening via email.

What AGE does my baby have to be to complete the screening?

  • 0-12 months old
